Horrocks Engineers is seeking an entry to mid-level Environmental Specialist and/or a Landscape Architect (0-5 years’ experience) to provide support to a broad team of environmental and engineering professionals in our Pleasant Grove, UT office.

Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities include assisting staff with field studies, collecting and organizing data, technical report preparation, and coordination with state and federal government agencies relating to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). Specific to wetlands and waters of the U.S., responsibilities include conducting wetland delineations, preparing Section 404 and stream alteration permit applications, and preparing wetland mitigation plans. Specific to landscape architecture, responsibilities include site analysis, aesthetic plan development, irrigation plans, and conceptual/final design, and construction documents.

Requirements
• BS/MS in a natural science or related field or BLA/MLA landscape architecture
• Strong communication and technical writing skills
• Candidate should be a self-starter, results-oriented and be able to work under tight deadlines and budgets
• Computer skills – Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Cloud, ArcGIS, CAD
• Capable and willing to perform field tasks in varying weather and terrain conditions
• Ability to read and understand engineering plans and technical reports
• Ability to travel, as needed, and be flexible with changes in work schedule
• Knowledge of federal/state environmental regulations is a plus
• Ability to learn new skills

The PI Department is responsible for messaging and communicating effectively with the public on infrastructure projects in planning, design, and construction phases and includes the strategy, development, and implementation of large-scale communication campaigns. The full-time, entry-level position is located in our Pleasant Grove, Utah, office. This position requires the following:

  • Preparation and administration of public involvement programs associated with planning, environmental, design, and construction of civil engineering projects
  • Working directly with a variety of agencies, organizations, and the general public with excellent customer service skills

Materials Tester

Horrocks Engineers has an immediate opening for a full-time Materials Tester in our Nampa, Idaho office.  WAQTC AgTT, AsTT II, CTT, EBTT and DTT certifications are required.  Experience in transportation related construction projects is required.  Candidates must have the ability work independently with minimal supervision. Position Available for a Traffic Engineer in our Las Vegas office

The Las Vegas office of Horrocks Engineers has an immediate opening for a traffic engineer with approximately 4-6 years of experience. Responsibilities will include obtaining traffic related data, providing travel demand modeling and traffic operations analysis, and preparing technical reports for all stages of project development, from planning studies to geometric design. A working knowledge and experience in the use of the latest transportation planning and traffic operations analysis software programs such as Synchro, SimTraffic, HCS, VISSIM, CORSIM, TransCAD, and CUBE is desired. Additional responsibilities will include traffic design for signing/striping, signals and maintenance of traffic using the MUTCD and AASHTO manuals.
