Horrocks Engineers is currently looking for a GIS Analyst to work with our GIS Department in our Pleasant Grove, Utah office.

Employment Category: Full-Time

Job Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in geographic information systems, geography, planning, cartography, computer science, or related field
• 3-6+ years related experience desired

Minimum Requirements:
• Proven experience working with ArcGIS Server, creating and managing web services
• Proven experience working with web and mobile GIS applications
• Ability to perform intermediate level of spatial analysis.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide computer mapping and related database services
• Assist with creating and managing web services in ArcGIS Server
• Assist in the development of internet and mobile applications
• Provide GIS support for our diverse planning and engineering services
• Attend training to improve personal GIS skills and elevate our capabilities
• Support and present at local and regional GIS users groups meetings and conferences
• Develop methods to improve efficiency of database management
• Aerial photography interpretation and map interpolation
• This position will report to the GIS Programmer Analyst

Desired Experience:
• Considerable knowledge of ESRI’s current lineup of GIS database, mapping software, and GIS application development packages including ArcGIS Desktop, Mobile, Online, and Server.
• Model builder and or Python scripting experience
• Familiarity with Esri’s Local Government Information Model
• Skill in document preparation and making oral presentations
• Skill in database architecture, data modeling, data normalization, data factoring, and archiving
• Knowledge of ArcSDE database enterprise system, usage, maintenance, and management
• SQL Server and MS Access databases knowledge
• Familiarity with GPS data gathering techniques and “ground to grid” conversion
• Knowledge of creating or working with custom coordinate systems
• Javascript, Flex, or other programming knowledge a plus
• AutoCAD or Microstation knowledge a plus

Position Available for Senior Municipal Engineer

Currently our Pleasant Grove, UT office has an exciting job opportunity for a self-motivated engineer to join the office in the role of Municipal Engineering Practice Leader. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a growth-oriented professional consulting office. Candidate will work with a strong, technical staff on various municipal and general civil-related projects. Responsibilities

In addition to leading and developing the growth and profitability of the engineering group, this person will provide support on a variety of engineering projects. Specific duties may include the following:

• Coordinate with team members from our other branch  offices
• Market, develop, plan and manage municipal engineering projects with full technical responsibility.
• Provide leadership in obtaining and developing new key clients each year in connection with planned targets and with the assistance of other senior staff in the office and region
• Provide leadership to new key clients along with other senior staff in the office.  Understand the business advantage of leveraging potential with existing clients and cross-selling opportunities
• Resolve client issues in a professional and appropriate manner
• Promote effective project execution and delivery
• Supervise, mentor, and provide direction and leadership for the staff in the Pleasant Grove office
• Provide leadership in project management and marketing tools and resources
• Prepare and review technical memoranda, reports, drawing, specifications, and miscellaneous contract documents and deliverables
• Supervise and coordinate the work of others on projects including remote design staff to ensure proper and timely execution on projects
• Successfully manage and deliver projects on time and on budget
• Participate in Horrocks’ Quality Management Plan

Requirements

• B.S. or M.S. degree in Civil Engineering (emphasis in the water related discipline preferred)
• Professional registration in the State of Utah
• Knowledgeable professional relationship with local public leaders and their agency staff managers
• Candidate should have a minimum of 15 years of increasingly-responsible experience with managing, mentoring and growing a profitable group or practice
• Strong communication and management skills along with business development/marketing experience essential
• Good technical skills with the ability to articulate ideas and concepts both visually and contextually are required
• Candidate should be versatile and interested in managing, marketing, and executing on a variety projects supporting Engineering Services
