Position Available for Experienced GIS Specialist
Horrocks Engineers is currently looking for an experienced GIS Specialist to lead all GIS tasks and functions as well as assist with business development to grow a new department at our Pleasant Grove, Utah office.

Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in geographic information systems, geography, planning, cartography, computer science, or related field
- 8+ years related experience desired
- Supervisory experience a plus
- AutoCAD or Microstation knowledge a plus
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide computer mapping and related database services
- Provide GIS support for our diverse planning and engineering services
- Obtain new work through marketing efforts and through providing quality work to retain existing clients
- Attend training to improve personal GIS skills and elevate our capabilities
- Support and present at local and regional GIS users groups meetings and conferences
- Develop methods to improve efficiency of database management
- Help expand the GIS department
- Aerial photography interpretation and map interpolation
Evaluation and Selection Factors Include:
- Considerable knowledge of ESRI’s current Iineup of GIS database, mapping software, and GIS application development packages including ArcGIS Desktop, Server, and Arclnfo
- Skill in document preparation and making oral presentations
- Skill in database architecture, data modeling, data normalization, data factoring, and archiving
- Knowledge of ArcSDE database enterprise system
- SQL Server and MS Access databases knowledge
- VBA, Python, and Javascript programming knowledge
- Familiarity with GPs data gathering techniques and “ground to grid” conversion
