2011 Utah Tour De Cure
Horrocks Engineers sponsored a team of riders who participated in the 2011 Tour de Cure Utah in Brigham City on June 11.
The Tour de Cure is an annual biking event that raises funds to help the American Diabetes Association (ADA) in their mission “to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes.” It is open to people of all ages.
The Tour is a ride, not a race, and allows for riders to choose to bike for 25, 60, 80, or 100 miles, with rest stop stations along the way. Each rider solicits donations from those willing to act as a rider sponsor, and donates those to the ADA.
This year, the Utah Tour had approximately 1500 riders who raised $404,676 in total donations.
Team Horrocks had 27 riders who were able to raise almost $7000. That amount put Horrocks in second place in the highest corporate team donations, and sixth place in overall team donations.
Team Horrocks even had a few “Red Riders,” or riders with diabetes, participate in this Tour.
Horrocks is proud to be of service to our community and our employees, and help the American Diabetes Association in their quest to stop diabetes.
We’d like to thank our team captain and organizer Sabra Benford for all the work she put forth in making this a great event for Horrocks.
